蜜蜂ーようやく花粉の蓄えが進む
11月4日に秋晴れの早朝に内検を行った。
ずっと気になっていたのが、8月16日の内検から「花粉」の蓄えが少なくなり、全くない時期もあった。
「花粉」はミネラルが豊富であり、育児に欠かせないもので、女王蜂が産卵を続けている時は枯渇させる訳にはいかない重要なものである。
8月23日から10月25日までに9回の「代用花粉」の給餌を行ってきた。
写真の中央のやや茶色の塊が市販の「代用花粉」で、多くの働き蜂が群がっている。
この「代用花粉」は働き蜂が摂るのではなく、巣枠の巣房に蓄える。そして幼虫の餌にしたり、羽化直後の若蜂が摂っている。働き蜂の成虫は基本的に「蜂蜜」を主食としているので、花粉は摂らない。
11月4日の内検では、巣房に「花粉」の蓄えがかなり見られたので「代用花粉」の給餌は行わなかった。これから花粉の給餌はしなくて済むのではと思っている。
写真は少し前に撮った「セイタカアワダチソウ」だが、まだ咲き続けているので10月25日以降に「花粉」収集が進んだのであろう。
セイタカアワダチソウが、養蜂家に貢献していますね。
セイタカアワダチソウは、秋の貴重な蜜源です。
花蜜も入る様ですが、蜂蜜としてはあまり良く
ない様で、蜜蜂達の餌になっています。
